On Feeding and Being Fed: Attachment and Food
with Linda Cundy
Course information
From the start of life, feeding is a relational experience. The bond between caregiver and baby is brokered in the intimacy of feeding, and our attachment to food is an expression of the relationships we form with other people and ourselves.
Our relationship with food communicates something of our attachment histories, secure or insecure: safety and security may be sought in feeding others, in eating or in refusal to eat.
This seminar will explore how our experiences of feeding and being fed are shaped in early life in the context of our first attachments, and how food mediates relationships throughout life.
The day will be divided between seminar, DVD clips, clinical material, and discussion. There will be opportunities to reflect on the place of food and eating in your own life and in the lives of your clients from an attachment perspective.

What previous participants have said about this course
‘Very much enjoyed how the day was structured – with plenty of opportunities to explore ideas and themes in pairs and small groups. Gave a sense of freedom and not being ‘force-fed’… Very engaging and thoughtful speaker.’
